Established in 2012, AIMS Institute of Maritime Studies has its registered office at Belapur, Navi Mumbai. Approved and assessed by Indian Registrar Quality Systems (IRQS), AIMS Institute of Maritime Studies stands 1st institute in India to be granted ISO 9001:2015 certification by IRQS. We have been providing international level maritime and nautical training since 2012. We believe in safety and focus on quality training. Our team of experts provide extensive training to meet the requirements of STCW, ISM CODE, ISPS CODE, safety training , SOLAS, MARPOL and MLC 2006. Our organization’s training centre is approved by Many Foreign Maritime Administration including MCA UK (Via Marlins UK), Panama Maritime Authority (PMA), Liberia Maritime Affair LISCR.
The School of Seamanship and Nautical Science formed with the noble philanthropic intention of spreading the benefits of quality education to the remote corners of Tamilnadu. Our College is certified with ISO 9001-2000 and approved by DG Shipping, Government of India, strictly enforcing globally recognized training standards for seafarers.
B. P. Marine Academy was formed on the 5th of December 1997 with the objective of imparting marine related training to seafarers and thereby achieves an overall improvement of the quality of seafarers. The stricter imposition of various regulations by marine organizations like IMO, Flag State administration etc., requires that seafarers are well trained to achieve their goals. Its purpose is to set up this training center with an aim to enhance the knowledge, skills and attitude of seafarers.
We do medical examination of seafarers for all ranks, in compliance with the guidelines of STCW 2010 and The Maritime Labor Convention (MLC) 2006 and also, for the purpose of joining maritime academies for various Merchant Navy courses, MMD Examinations and applying for Indian CDC by the approval of Director General Shipping Mumbai. (Govt. of INDIA).

The seafarer demonstrated the ability to steer and comply with helm orders, together with sufficient knowledge of magnetic and/or compasses for the puposes of bridge watch duties.
Ship Handling and Maneuvering is defined as the art of proper control of a ship while underway, especially in harbours, around docks and piers. It is one of the skills that any ship handler finds very satisfying when well accomplished.
